You have not characterized the "conventional delivery" accurately. This delivery is not supported to either side. It's supported with the athlete's "sliding foot " under the midline of the body. In fact with a true balanced delivery, even the "sliding device" is unnecessary.
With the "Utica Slide" delivery, side supports become necessary when, as described above, that's not required.
With right-foot-right-arm in extended positions with the Uitica Slide delivery, there's bound to be a twisting action on the upper body (& therefore a tendency to affect the delivery arm). It's why in virtually very sport where an object is propelled with one arm/hand, it's the opposite appendage (arm/leg) that's extended to keep the body square.
